We believe that
- only we know who we are, how we identify, and what being trans means for us.
- every trans person has a fundamental right to community and support.
- our identity, dignity and safety is unalienable.
- safety and comfort are not the same and that growth often happens at the edges of our discomfort.
- trans community needs to be intergenerational and intersectional.
- we can only thrive if we center, uplift and support those on the margins of our community and society at large while limiting hierarchical structures.
We value
- making our community a space for both support and commiseration, celebration, joy and play
- making everyone in our community feel seen, heard, wanted and appreciated for who they are
- creating a supportive, coalition-based space for trans people independent of their age, gender identity, sexuality, race or disability
- building a community where members feel safe to sit with discomfort and people’s traumas are validated
- supporting people as they learn to accept criticism, appreciate caring call-outs and navigate conflicts
Our Principles are
- to listen and believe people when they share their personal experiences and needs
- to work collaboratively with the entire community to develop and implement the rules, structure and server culture based on our shared beliefs and values
- to calling people out in a caring, constructive manner and calling people in
- to respect people’s boundaries and to encourage them to state them openly
- to treat the safety of the community as paramount and to remove members who endanger it when necessary.
